Montgomery County Prevention Coalition
The Montgomery County Prevention Coalition is comprised of community leaders with a passion to prevent substance misuse and promote positive mental health.
The Montgomery County Prevention Coalition is group of over 300 community volunteers from all across Montgomery County - including prevention professionals, elected officials, parents, teachers and more. If you live, work, play or worship in Montgomery County - this Coalition is for you!
The Coalition is made up of 9 subcommittees, each with the goal to reduce substance use and promote mental wellness in our community. Volunteers are encouraged to choose one (or more!) subcommittees to be a part of to start making change in the community. Subcommittees are where the action happens! Our subcommittees are:
- Cannabis and Alcohol Prevention
- Gaming & Gambling Prevention
- Opioid Prevention
- Policy & Advocacy
- Power-Based Violence
- Retailer's CARE
- Self-Care Promotion
- Suicide Prevention
- Youth Leadership in Prevention
Committees employ evidence-based strategies, including providing information, enhancing skills, providing support, enhancing access, changing consequences, changing physical design, and changing policy to create full community change.
Subcommittees meet monthly and the full Coalition meets bimonthly, usually on the first Friday of the month. Visit preventionmc.org and click "Connect With Us" to sign up to receive more information!
