We Care Arts, Inc
We empower healing through art and community.

ArtWorks
WCA person-centered 3-hour art program Mon- Friday 9-noon or 1-4pm. helps individuals optimize their personal, social, and emotional competency to live successfully in the community. The people served have an active role in determining the activities in which they wish to participate. The programming is provided in an accessible building, which is easily reached by public transportation. We help participants set and work towards art and life goals, as well as ISP or other established goals which are reviewed annually, and after any revision; giving them the tools to reach their objectives in the most efficient manner possible. WCA provides the following community activities for its Artist-Clients:
Leisure and recreational activities. Participating in creating art is a recreational activity which can benefit individuals and complement other treatments.
Communication activities. The open atmosphere in our art studio encourages socialization and camaraderie among participants.
Cultural activities. Participants are exposed to art in all its forms: music, painting, clay, writing, and more.
Life skills. Participants practice skills including time management, socialization, and following written and/or verbal instructions.
Volunteerism in the community. Participants are invited to attend WCA functions to help with set-up, greet attendees, and assist during the event. Many participants also represent the agency at community events.
Educational and training activities. Participants at We Care Arts can:
Attend regular classes where they learn art skills. Additional classes are available to sharpen existing skills and expand creativity.
Development of living skills. Programming focuses on helping participants achieve a level of personal independence by encouraging them to work toward their goals.
Health and wellness promotion. The process of creating art is beneficial for many. Learning art skills that can be replicated at home for one’s own enjoyment reduces the likelihood of boredom, and depression. All classes incorporate mindfulness and movement activities to model and encourage incorporating manageable wellness activities in everyday life. Tools for self-regulation, mindfulness, and self-care are modeled and incorporated into curriculum daily.
Interacting with volunteers from the community. WCA has a strong volunteer base who provide one-on-one support to our Artist-Clients each day.
As a result of these activities, WCA Artist-Clients may experience:
Increased independence
Increased interdependence
Greater quality of life
Skills development
Volunteer placement
Activity alternatives to avoid or reduce time spent in more restrictive environments like hospitals or nursing homes
