COMMUNITY SUPPORT SERVICES - Whole Family Coaching:
East End helps individuals become self-sufficient, including helping them meet basic needs, find housing, secure food, access health resources and secure living wage jobs. Our goal is to help families and individuals increase their state of well-being so they can care for their children and contribute to the quality of life within their neighborhood. Whole Family Coaching is available to support individuals and families identify and address needs.
NEIGHBORHOOD JOB CONNECTION:
The Neighborhood Job Connections (NJC) program has a proven track record of successfully preparing people for work and is known for its well-written resumes and option for becoming forklift certified. Services are free and available to income eligible adults living in Montgomery County. We offer resume development, job coaching, forklift certification, OhioMeansJobs accounts, assistance with barriers, job search assistance, and connections to other certifications and training.
PEER SUPPORT AND RECOVERY SERVICES:
Program provides Certified Peer Recovery Supporters, Case Management, and advocacy to help individuals and families access treatment, recovery and other community resources. To support families and friends of those struggling with or lost to substance use or mental illness, Family Peer Support services, including a weekly support group, is available. Conversation for Change (C4C) is a change-making community event hosted six times to provide individuals, families and community members with opportunities to speak with Peer Supporters and other professionals about their experience with substance use or mental health challenges. Treatment and recovery options are explored, providers are on-site to address immediate needs, and Narcan training and kits are provided.
RISE FOR SENIORS:
RISE 4 Seniors is designed to Reduce Isolation and Support Engagement for individuals age 55 and over who are at greater risk of depression, substance use disorder and other challenging issues that threaten their ability to age well and achieve a greater quality of life. Educational programs and socialization events are also provided.
SENIOR OUTREACH SERVICES:
Senior Outreach Service (SOS) provides support services to low income persons over the age of 60 who often live alone without friends or family members to help them continue living independently and achieve a better quality of life. We work with seniors to assess needs and develop plans to address those needs; connecting seniors to essential resources and conducting follow-up to monitor wellbeing and prove that someone cares.
MIRACLE MAKERS AFTER SCHOOL AND SUMMPER CAMP PROGRAMS:
Programs include academic tutoring, mentoring, project-based learning enrichment activities (Sparks), music lessons (Q the Music), mindfulness activities, an annual musical or event, and prevention services for children. Summer Camp includes theme-focused activities, extended learning and fun for 6 weeks each summer. Proven to enhance student achievement, this program is held at Ruskin PreK-6, East End’s Neighborhood School partner.
POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT:
The Project helps young people at-risk for dropping out of school to graduate with a clear plan for post-secondary education, career/vocational development, and training. Youth receive wrap-around social-emotional supports and intensive case management, and learn essential life skills, while also being exposed to career counseling and exploration which leads them on a path to well-paying, satisfying and stable jobs that are needed within the community, and creates individual and family self-sufficiency.
CAMP MARIPOSA:
Camp Mariposa, developed by Eluna Foundation, is a camping program for youth and teens exposed to substance use or overdose death of a parent, sibling, grandparent or other loved one. Utilizing evidence-based curricula and mentoring delivered through six transformational weekend camps, youth gain knowledge and build resiliency skills to understand addiction and improve health outcomes. Special events and educational support are available for parents/adult caregivers to improve communication and strengthen family bonding.
PATHWAYS:
Pathways is a program that helps women have a healthy pregnancy and delivery, and supports connections to community services and resources. Community Health Workers walk beside each participant to ensure connections are being made and individuals know how to effectively use essential resources. Pathways helps women take care of their health and achieve a better quality of life for themselves and their babies.
GARDENING AND NUTRITION EDUCATION:
The program addresses the breadth of food access needs existing within our target zone of inner east and north Dayton; working closely with diverse project partners to meet those we serve wherever they are on the food insecurity spectrum– from immediate hunger relief to gaining deep knowledge of gardening through at-home garden installations.
OTHER SUPPORT SERVICES:
East End also provide screenings for substance use, trauma, gambling and mental wellness, and conducts support groups, including Anger Management and Strengthening Families.
