Sylvania Prevention Alliance

Sylvania Prevention Alliance empowers youth, familied and the community to make safe and healthy choices through education, awareness and support

Sylvania Prevention Alliance is a 501c3 nonprofit organization credentialed with the State of Ohio to provide prevention and behavioral health services to youth and families. We focus on offering youth, families and our community the knowledge, guidance, and support needed to successfully navigate these challenging times.

We partner with many local agencies to help keep our community safe and provide youth with the necessary skills to make healthy choices. We are supported by the Mental Health & Recovery Services Board of Lucas County.

We best disseminate this information through our 2 youth groups, Youth Above the Noise and Core Committed with groups at each junior high and high school within the Sylvania Schools system. Students can express their ideas while building leadership skills and volunteer opportunities that will give them valuable life experience for their future. Service hours are earned for all high school meetings.

We also provide information to parents on the latest youth-related topics (e.g. screen time, bullying, video gaming, vaping, mental health, drug and alcohol prevention). We help parents develop awareness about what to look for, how to stop problems before they start, and how to create a healthy, safe environment for your family. We do this through community parenting events, in-person workshops, on-line programs and parent resources.

For the community as a whole, we offer ID checkers to anyone needing to verify age for the purchase of alcohol at events. Seller-Server training is also offered to groups or individuals needing to develop their skills in identifying underage drinking and the law. Sylvania Prevention Alliance additionally coordinates the 2 National Drug Take Back Days for all the locations in Lucas County.
